Skagit Valley Tulip/Daffodil Festival

Two weekends ago was a really wonderful weekend. It was spent adventuring, watching soccer, seeing some live music, and laying around watching movies. Probably the highlight of this all was that Travis and I went up to the Skagit Valley Tulip/Daffodil Festival. I was really in it for the daffodils, even though they were starting to wilt a bit, but the tulips were beautiful as well. As we were getting close and I could see the fields of yellow I was so excited, I maybe squealed a little. Just maybe.

I have been living in Washington for almost 7 years now and this was the first time I've gone to the festival. I highly recommend going if you have the opportunity. It's only $5 to get in and it's a fun place to just walk around and take photos. Speaking of, here are some photos from our adventure!

Daily Photo: Weeks Seventeen & Eighteen

This past week was a tough one. I was so sick and functioning like a normal person was really rough. But, I'm finally almost back to full health. Anyway, that being said here's a two week edition of daily photo since my jumbled mind didn't post last week :)

Day 117: Sometimes Sundays truly need to be recovery days, especially when you feel like you've been running around non stop (which I often do).

Day 118: A new yoga mat! I live a lot closer to the gym in my new place so I am working on doing better about not just doing my normal routine, but utilizing all of the amenities they have including free classes.

Day 119: Thank God for PCC. This vegan diet is tough, but especially when I'm busy (or sick) and don't take the time to really plan out my meals. I've been finding myself swinging into PCC pretty often to snag some of their delicious vegan options.

Day 120: A bowling outing with work! I'll be honest, I kind of crushed it. ;)

Day 121: About half of my nail polish collection. I don't paint my nails that often, but somehow I have accumulated many colors. Maybe I don't paint them often because it takes me too long to pick a color!

Day 122: Isn't this flask awesome!? Found at a map store downtown.

Day 123: Sounders! Travis and I bought half season match passes for the Sounders and went to our first game together last weekend. Sadly they lost, but we had fun nonetheless.

Day 124: Now it's officially spring and it's starting to show more and more.

Day 125: Some days I really just stay holed up in my office for what seems like a never ending amount of time. I guess I'm starting to collect things and go into hibernation mode.

Day 126: Bread and wine is really all I need sometimes. Maybe it's time to look into a trip to Italy soon ;)

Day 127: And some days I sit on my floor and plan blog posts for what seems like a never ending amount of time.

Day 128: Spring in Seattle means flowers, but definitely doesn't mean a lack of grey skies.

Day 129: My mom came into town for a few days! We headed up to Woodinville on Friday for soem wine tasting and dinner. If you're in Washington and haven't gone out to Woodinville, put it on your to do list right away! Especially if you're a wine and food fan.

Day 130: Another thing we did while my mom was in town was go to a hockey game, which is something she's always wanted to do. I've never been to a hockey game either but I am a fan of pretty much any sport, and this was a lot of fun.

A Very Northwest Weekend

The weather the past few weeks has been amazing. You would think it was at least May here in Seattle. This past weekend I took full advantage of the fact that it has been sunny and that I live in the PNW thankfully, because the rain has started up again.

Saturday was spent hiking at Twin Falls in North Bend, WA which is about a 30 minute drive out of Seattle. It was a pretty tame hike, not too steep and about 3 miles. I would definitely recommend for anyone. I haven't been hiking much lately so I'm trying to work my difficulty level back up!

Sunday was spent lounging around at Shady Lake all day. Travis and I were lucky enough to get invited out to a friends' place right on the lake. There are tons of little lakes around Washington and the unknown ones are truly the best.
The only part of the weekend that wasn't amazing (for me, I'm sure the guys would say it was the best part) was the fact that our friends parents have tons and tons of amazing cheeses, none of which I could eat.

I also had the realization that I may have to start sharing my camera time with this guy, he apparently is an aspiring photographer. News to me! ;)

Daily Photo: Week Sixteen

Day 110: Alisha working hard at hairstyles. I had a lot of fun on Sunday doing a photo shoot for her at Haven Salon while she made the girls' hair looking amazing. More to share on this later.

Day 111: Speaking of Alisha, in return for the photo shoot she dyed my hair. So, bye bye blonde and helloooo red!

Day 112: Remember when I said I was obsessed with Amy's gold accents through her house (here), especially her bar cart? Well, she's a great friend and gave me this print her sister made. I'm really loving this corner of my apartment.

Day 113: This makes me laugh probably way more than it should, but the grill marks on my squash made a silly happy face and it amused me to no end.

Day 114: Have I mentioned that Travis is the best? He left flowers on my doorstep, again! Feeling pretty lucky lately.

Day 115: Here's a panorama snapshot of the way my apartment has been coming together. Planning a post soon to show off some details.

Day 116: The weather has been ridiculous for March in the PNW. I actually got slightly sunburnt this weekend if you can believe it. I went on a hike Saturday that was amazing, and I'll have more photos to share of that soon too.
